Did the Pakistan government torture Kulbhushan Jadhav, the former Indian Navy officer sentenced to death on charges of espionage? Photos from his meeting with his wife and mother have aroused suspicions that it did. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who spent many years working for the United Nations as a top diplomat, told the news agency ANI that “many people” who were “more knowledgeable” than him were of the opinion that there were “signs of torture.”

In one of the photos that was taken during Kulbhushan Jadhav’smeeting with his family, his right ear appears to show signs of injury.

Pakistan allowed Kulbhushan Jadhav to meet two family members on “humanitarian grounds” on Monday, over eight months after he was sentenced to death. Jadhav’s mother and wife were accompanied by JP Singh, India’s Deputy High Commissioner to Pakistan.
