The ministry of home affairs will reimburse the Jammu and Kashmir government for the compensation it pays to victims of cross-border firing. Till January 22 this year, incidents of cross-border firing had claimed 15 lives

NEW DELHI: The Centre on Monday said it would reimburse the Jammu and Kashmir government for the compensation it pays to victims of cross-border firing, reported news agency ANI.

The funds will be dispensed by the ministry of home affairs.

Pakistan has continuously violated the ceasefire since January 1, targeting forward Indian posts and civilian areas along the International Border and Line of Control. At least 10,000 civilians living close to the border were relocated to safer places.

In fact, on February 24, before it unleashed intense firing and shelling on Silkote and Churanda villages, the Pakistani Army used loudspeakers to urge the residents of the twin villages to vacate the area.
