A Chinese national was shot dead on Monday in an apparent targeted killing in Karachi’s Zamzama area.

While quoting initial investigations, police said it was a targeted killing as he was shot after being followed by armed assailants. A passerby identified as Hassan Abbas was wounded in the incident.

Extra contingent of police and rangers reached the site and collected evidence. The site of incident was immediately cordoned off and investigators are trying to find CCTV footage. The victim’s body has been moved to a hospital.

Security has been beefed up for foreigners, particularly Chinese nationals across the province.

Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal and Inspector General Police Sindh took notice of the incident and have sought a report from District South Police Chief DIG Azad Khan and SSP South.
