ISRO’s GSLV Mk-II placed GSAT-6A in orbit on Thursday. GSLV Mk-II’s onboard cameras has sent stunning visuals. They include three stage separation, payload firing and ejection of the satellite

CHENNAI: Hours after GSLV Mk-II injected communication satellite GSAT-6A into orbit, the Indian Space Research Organisation on Thursday night released a video captured by cameras onboard the launch vehicle.

An edited version of the visuals of the launch and those from the onboard cameras has been posted on the space agency's website.

The video which runs for 1.41 minutes shows the clips from pre-launch when the GSLV Mk-II I is moved to the launch pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, and the countdown sequence. Clips of three stage separation, payload firing and ejection of the satellite complete the short video.

On Thursday, when the vehicle lifted off, Isro scientists watched the visuals from the onboard cameras on a giant screen to keep track of the vehicle. When they saw the satellite separating from the vehicle, scientists at the mission control centre, located some 2km away from the launch pad, broke into celebrations.
