French Naval Group (formerly DCNS) new generation BARRACUDA nuclear attack submarine

The France-headquartered Naval Group would showcase its state-of-the-art innovations and cutting edge technologies, including Scorpene, submarine and frigates at the DefExpo to be held here from April 11 to 14.

A Naval Group in India release on Thursday said it would showcase the state-of-the-art innovations created for modern navies at its booth, demonstrating its capabilities in modern ship and submarine building along with high tech solutions for systems and competence as leading naval integrator. 

The successful efforts in building industrial partnerships with Indian shipyards and industry would also be showcased.

The release said Naval Group’s activities were synced with the ‘Make in India’ policy of the Government. 

The P75 program is an illustration of the successful indigenisation process where the first submarine of the class INS Kalvari was commissioned during the end of last year. 

On January 31 this year, the third made-in-India Scorpene class submarine, the Karanj, was launched in Mumbai, highlighting the empowerment of the Indian Navy towards complete self reliance.

Naval Group Exeuctive Vice President Alain Guillou said the Group was pleased to present its latest innovations at this premier event. 

''Our know-how is the result of our large investment in Research and Development (10 per cent of annual revenues). Our sea-proven technologies benefit from the vast feedback from different navies, including that of the French Navy and offers superior and adapted technologies to our customers'', Alain said. 

As the European leader of naval defence it would showcase the Scorpene, which was a 2000 ton conventional-propulsion submarine designed and developed by Naval Group for all types of mission, such as surface vessel warfare, anti-submarine warfare, long range strikes, special operations or intelligence gathering. 

It would also display Barracuda, latest generation of strategic submarine built for the French,Navy, frigate, aircraft carriers and F21 heavy weight torpedo.
