SRINAGAR: Two militants were killed on Monday by the Army in an anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora, a defence official said.

"Two terrorists were killed today in the Panar forest area," Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia told IANS here.

The operation comes a day after the Centre announced its decision not to extend the ceasefire in the state.

An army official said two militants have been killed so far even as the operation continues to be in progress. The Army surrounded the area after militants fired at a patrol party on June 9.

On June 13, two militants and a soldier were killed in the operation.
