One army personnel was martyred while two terrorists were gunned down during an ongoing operation in Bandipora’s Panar area in Jammu and Kashmir, news agency ANI reported. A massive search and combing operation is underway to flush out militants in the area.

Jammu: One army personnel was martyred while two terrorists were gunned down during an ongoing operation in Bandipora’s Panar area in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, news agency ANI reported. As per reports, security forces have launched a massive search and combing operation in the dense forest area to flush out other militants. Reports also suggested that the forces received a tip-off regarding the presence of some militants in the forest area. 

On Wednesday, in yet another incident of ceasefire violation by Pakistan, four Border Security Force personnel were killed in unprovoked firing in Jammu and Kashmir’s in Chambiyal sector of Samba in Jammu and Kashmir. The four BSF personnel who were martyred included one assistant commandment, one Sub-Inspector and two soldiers of the BSF. At least three other BSF jawans were injured.

The ceasefire violation took place almost over a week after both India and Pakistan decided to implement the ceasefire pact of 2003 in both “letter and spirit.” In fact, following this, another meeting of a sector commander-level (BSF DIG-Rangers Brigadier) was also held in Jammu on May 4, where the two sides had reiterated their resolve to ensure peace in the region by “holding fire” along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, earlier, Lassipora police station in Pulwama came under attack after a group of militants hurled an Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) at it, Zee News reported. On Tuesday, a terrorist attack in the state’s Pulwama region resulted in the loss of lives of two police personnel, while injuring three others.

On the other hand, the Home Ministry is scheduled to hold a high-level meeting today to review the Centre’s decision to stall anti-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir during the holy month of Ramzan, also known as ‘Ramzan ceasefire’. The meeting will be chaired by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and will have MoS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, MoS Home Hansraj Ahir, Director General of Paramilitary Forces, NSA Ajit Doval, IB Chief among the top officials attending the meet, Zee News reported.
