New Delhi: The Congress on Friday countered BJP's serious charge of being a "pro-Muslim party" by raking up Rs 58,000 crore Rafale deal and said the saffron party was "unnecessarily" getting engaged to create a controversy and divert people's attention from real issues.

"I request Nirmala Sitharamanji that till today you have not bothered to answer to the nation about the Rs 58,000 crore deal of Rafale which is the biggest scam. If you have the courage in this Monsoon 
Session please make a suo moto statement and reply to the nation that how the defence ministry has conducted the biggest scam under your nose," Congress MP and spokesperson said.

The Monsoon Session of Parliament commences from July 18.

Earlier in the day, Defence Minister Ms Sitharaman claimed that Congress party owes an explanation as to why its president Rahul Gandhi recently said that the Congress party is a "Muslim party".
