In a tweet, J-K DGP SP Vaid said that the same group of terrorists had abducted and killed young police constable Muhammad Saleem Shah on Saturday

Three terrorists involved in the abduction and killing of Constable Mohammad Saleem Shah have been killed in an encounter at Khudwani in Kulgam on Sunday.

Army spokesman, Colonel Rajesh Kalia, said that three terrorists have been killed and their weapons recovered from the encounter site.

The Kashmir Range Police announced that the terrorists involved in the abduction and killing of Constable Saleem, whose bullet-riddled body was found on Saturday, have been killed.

Security forces had launched a cordon-and-search operation in Khudwani area of Kulgam district in south Kashmir after receiving specific intelligence input about the presence of militants in the area, a police official said.

He said the search operation turned into a gun-battle as the militants fired upon the forces, prompting retaliation.

J-K Director General of Police Shesh Paul Vaid confirmed the developed through a tweet.

The search operation was launched a day after the bullet-riddled body of J-K Police constable Muhammad Saleem Shah was found in the Qaimoh area. Shah was abducted by terrorists from his house in the Mutalhama village of Kulgam in South Kashmir on Friday night.

Police said that Shah’s body was found in a field at Odipura in Qaimoh village. A large number of mourners reached his house when the news of his killing spread in the area.

Police said that Shah, who had come home on leave from Kathua in Jammu where he was undergoing training, was kidnapped by a group of armed terrorists who barged into his house late Friday night.

Shah was earlier working as a special police officer (SPO) and was recently absorbed in regular police force. He was scheduled to return to Kathua on Monday to resume his training.

The incident has come nearly a month after a soldier of the Indian Army, Aurangzeb, was kidnapped and brutally killed by terrorists in the Shopian district of South Kashmir. A few days later a policeman, who was a member of the team that killed 13 terrorists in an operation in South Kashmir, was also abducted and killed when he had come on leave and was purchasing medicine for his ailing mother.
