Indian Army’s volleyball team recently defeated their Pakistani counterparts in a friendly match held during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) peace mission exercise. The match was an inter-contingent encounter which was the part of an eight-team tournament eventually won by India’s 5 Rajput Regiment. India defeated Pakistan in the finals.
Both the teams were getting support from not only their own countrymen but from the soldiers of other armies including Russia and China. Although it appeared like the old times while the Chinese were supporting Pakistan, the Russian were cheering for India.

Meanwhile, for the first time, the armies of two nuclear neighbours are taking part in a mega anti-terror drill of the SCO aimed at expanding cooperation among the member countries to deal with terror.

India is participating in the drill for the first time since it became the full member of SCO in June last year and the Peace Mission Exercise is conducted biennially for the SCO member states. The joint exercise is being conducted by the Central Military Commission of Russia from August 22 to August 29 at Chebarkul in Russia.
