Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government this year gave Anil Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Communications (RCom), a miss for its Vibrant Gujarat summit 2019 amid the Rafale controversy. Ambani, who has been among several supporters of the summit since its inception in 2003, has reportedly been missed from the list of invitees for the Summit this year. Reports inform that the Gujarat government has avoided all industry leaders who could draw even the slightest negative impact during the summit. The three-day investors' meet was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Mahatma Mandir facility in the state capital on Friday. There would be an array of events during the 9th edition of the summit this year. The heads of five countries and over 30,000 national and international delegates are expected to attend the summit. Around 1,500 overseas and domestic buyers are expected to visit the trade show during the three days. The trade show aims to benefit MSMEs (micro, small & medium enterprises) from Gujarat where sixteen pavilions are displaying products in as many categories. "On January 17, Modi would inaugurate 'Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show' near Mahatma Mandir and a newly-built hospital in Ahmedabad. In the evening, the PM would inaugurate a shopping festival on Sabarmati Riverfront," Rupani informed on Tuesday.

According to reports, the list of 19 corporate leaders who have been invited includes Mukesh Ambani, Anil's elder brother, TATA Sons Chairman N Chandrashekhran, Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani, Godrej Group Chairman Adi Godrej among others.

The trade show will end on January 22 and will be open for general public on the last two days (January 21 and 22). The closing ceremony of the Vibrant Gujarat summit will be held in the presence of Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, the chief minister told reporters after reviewing the preparations.
