DRDO/Mahindra Marksman armoured capsule-based light bulletproof vehicle

The Defence Research and Development Organisation’s (DRDO) presentation has received the Exhibitor of the Year Award’ at 106th Indian Science Congress, reveals a report released by the Press Information Bureau.

DRDO’s presentation which features themes like self-reliance, national pride and ‘Make in India’ which gained a lot of attention from visitors who also got an opportunity to interact with DRDO’s scientists.

Among the outdoor exhibits of DRDO were surface-to-air missile system Akash, a BrahMos missile model, remotely-operated vehicle Daksh, a heavyweight Torpedo-Varunastra, Laser Ordnance Disposal System (LORDS), Vehicle Mounted Dazzler and others.

The indoor exhibit showcased models of many missile systems - Prithvi, Nag, Astra, HELINA and LRSAM; MBT Arjun Mk1A, Rustom UAV, Armoured Engineer Rocket Launcher, Plastic Bullet, SONAR, 155 mm Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System, Multi-Mode Hand Grenades, PINAKA- Multi Barrel Rocket Launcher, Bullet Proof jackets and Helmets, Night Vision Devices, Micro Wave Power Module, Armoured Engineer Recce Vehicle, Integrated Multi-Function Sight and Radars.

The DRDO also showcased various Life Sciences Products like Portable Chemical Agent Detector, Full body protector for women, underwater breathing apparatus for T-90 tank crew and Ready-to-Eat Packaged Foods.

Further, the DRDO pavilion also provided information on the pan India online competition, ‘Kalam’s Vision; Dare to Dream’. The competition aims to engage young minds in growing modern technology like Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Cyber Security, Autonomous security to unearth disruptive ideas and concepts which can enhance defence capabilities.
