Pakistan attacked the Indian Army for violating ceasefire and targeting civilian population across the LoC. Pak Army spokesperson also said such acts cannot suppress the freedom struggle of brave Kashmiris

New Delhi: Pakistan raked up the Kashmir issue once again and slammed the Indian Army for “violating” ceasefire and targeting civil population in Shahkot sector across the Line of Control (LoC). In a tweet, Asif Ghafoor, Director-General of the Inter-Services Public Relations, the media wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces, called out the Indian Army for its “unprofessional conduct” and added that such acts can’t suppress indigenous freedom struggle of brave Kashmiris.

This is not the first time that Pakistan has raked the Kashmir issue. Last year in September, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, in a meeting with UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, had highlighted the plight of the Kashmiris. Referring to the report of the Human Rights High Commissioner Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, Qureshi called for peaceful resolution of the dispute in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions.

India also criticised Pakistan PM Imran Khan for bringing up Kashmir dispute at Kartarpur event last year following which External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said that India will not attend the SAARC summit till Pakistan stops terrorism emanating from the country.

Swaraj in her speech at UNGA in September last year had exposed Pakistan for supporting terrorism and had said that it is also "an expert in trying to mask malevolence with verbal duplicity”. Swaraj further said that talks with Pakistan started many times in the past but failed because of its behaviour.
