For the second time in less than a week, Pakistan has provoked India contacting Kashmiri separatists.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Sunday had a phone call with Kashmir separatist Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, says sources in the country's government. The phone call comes less than a week since Qureshi had a phone conversation with Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq a day before Prime Minster Narendra Modi's visit to Jammu, Srinagar and Leh for inaugurating various development projects there.

As per sources in the Pakistan government, Qureshi and Geelani had an indepth discussion on the so-called ‘deteriorating situation in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the gross human rights violations being perpetrated in IOK by Indian occupation forces’

The sources added that ‘Geelani sahib appreciated the stance of Pakistan on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and against the HR violations.'

They further said that, 'forthcoming London conference on Kashmir, report of High Commissioner for human rights, APPKG report were also discussed.’

Only three days earlier on Wednesday, India had summoned High Commissioner of Pakistan Sohail Mahmood in connection with a telephone conversation between Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and senior Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

Pakistan envoy Sohail Mahmood was summoned by Indian Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale. Mahmood was conveyed that Pakistan Foreign Minister's call to the Hurriyat leader was strongly condemned by the Government of India for being a brazen attempt to subvert India’s unity and to violate its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Foreign Secretary also conveyed that this deplorable act has violated all norms for the conduct of international relations even by Pakistan’s own standards.

"The Pakistan Foreign Minister’s actions are tantamount to direct interference in the internal affairs of its neighbour. Foreign Secretary underscored that by this action Pakistan has confirmed yet again that it officially abets and encourages individuals associated with terrorism and anti-India activities. It has exposed to the entire international community Pakistan’s duplicity in professing their desire for normal relations with India on the one hand, while openly inciting anti-India activities on the other," MEA said in press release.
