Pakistan Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa with PM Imran Khan

Addressing the National Security Council meeting, Pakistan PM Imran Khan authorised the Army to give a decisive response if India decides to attack Pakistan

Islamabad: Fearing retaliatory action from India after the ghastly Pulwama terror attack, Pakistan PM Imran Khan met Army Chief Lt. Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa today ahead of the National Security Council (NSC) meeting. During the meeting, Imran Khan said that Pakistan government is determined to demonstrate that it is capable of protecting its people.

The PM also authorised the Pakistani armed forces to "respond decisively and comprehensively to any aggression or misadventure by India".

During the meeting, the country's and region's security situation were also discussed. The meeting was attended by the COAS, heads of intelligence agencies, security officials and federal and state ministers for finance, defence, foreign affairs and interior, The Nation reported.

"This is a new Pakistan and we are determined to demonstrate to our people that the State is capable of protecting them," Khan said.

According to the local media reports, the Pulwama terror attack and India's theatricality and its repercussions were also discussed.

India has received immense solidarity from the global community after the ghastly terror attack in South Kashmir's Pulwama and the international pressure on Pakistan is also increasing. In a televised press conference, PM Imran Khan had earlier threatened India saying that Islamabad will have no option but to retaliate if New Delhi decides to mount an attack on the country.

Pakistan has also started issuing an advisory to the people staying in PoK to stay clear from the Line of Control (LoC) and Disaster Management Authority has been pressed into action which in turn has advised the people to relocate to ‘safe locations’ and use ‘safe roads’ for transport.
