A cordon and search operation is underway near the Indian Army camp in Uri in Jammu and Kashmir after the camp sentries (guards) spotted suspicious movement near the boundary wall of the camp. The camp is at Mohra in Uri and is near the Line of Control (LOC).

The guards opened fire after they spotted movement at 3 am on Monday. They opened fire at the men moving around the camp. The police have said that there may have been casualties during the exchange of fire but no dead bodies have been found as yet.

The area has been cordoned off and security forces are carrying out a search operation to nab the militants. It is suspected that militants, if present, are hiding in a forest nearby.

Meanwhile, the security forces have spotted two persons near a nallah close to the army camp. Both of them are currently being interrogated.

The search operation in the area is being carried out jointly by the Indian Army and the police.

Jammu and Kashmir Police has issued a statement in this regard and has confirmed the developments so far.
