SHIMLA: Kargil war hero and veteran Bragadier Khushal Thakur on Thursday said that earlier tactical operations were held by Indian army in past too but for the first time surgical strike of such massive scale has been conducted for the first time under Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government at Centre.

While addressing media persons in Shimla, Khushal Thakur who was contender for BJP ticket from Mandi parliamentary seat this time said that in past no operation of such massive scales were held in past.

Referring to Kargil war, he said that at that time Indian Army and Indian Air Force both were ready but there orders of not to cross the Line of Control. He said earlier there was illusion that enemy might use nuclear weapon but Modi has changed this illusion.

He said that in last five years for the first time country has seen strong political will and strong leadership. He said that Modi after coming to power took the decision of bringing paradigm shift in country’s defence and foreign policy.

He said that with his diplomatic acumen, Modi has isolated Pakistan among international community while terrorist Masood Azhar based in Pakistan has been declared as global terrorist and these are the biggest achievement of Modi government. 

He said that in this election, along with development, national security also is an issue and this should also be discussed in the country. He said that by constructing national war memorial in Delhi, Modi has given respect to the armed forces.
