Indian Army supported by the Special Operations Group of the J&K police eliminated a total of five terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. Three terrorists were gunned down in Shopian while two were killed Tral.

In the Shopian district, the Indian security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Dragad Sugan area of south Kashmir following a tip-off about the presence of terrorists, the official said. As the forces carried out searches, terrorists fired upon them, leading to the encounter, he added.

The security forces have scaled up anti-terror operation in the valley. On Thursday, two terrorists were killed in the Sopore area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district. At least 20 terrorists have been eliminated this month alone.

In the Tral gunfight, the Indian security forces gunned down two terrorists in an encounter which broke out near CRPF camp in Maldoora in South Kashmir on Friday afternoon. According to official sources, the terrorists first opened fire at the troops of Rashtriya Rifles near CRPF camp in the region. The 180 battalion of the paramilitary force joined the army in the gunfight against the terrorists.

Pakistan media, in its traditional stance, called the terrorists as freedom fighters and criticised Indian brutality in Kashmir. The Pakistan media states that Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred three more Kashmiri youth and called India as the occupational forces.
