India had lodged a strong protest against the inclusion of pro-Khalistani leader Gopal Singh Chawla in Kartarpur Corridor panel

Gopal Singh Chawla has been replaced by another pro-Khalistan leader Ameer Singh who is the brother of one of the top leaders of the Khalistani movement in Pakistan. Chawla had shared the audio clip on Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) WhatsApp group. Chawla continues to serve as the non-official member of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) which controls PSGPC

New Delhi: Pro-Khalistan leader Gopal Singh Chawla, who was removed recently from a panel linked to the Kartarpur Corridor, expressed unhappiness over his removal saying that nobody in Pakistan will say that “Pakistan is Zindabad”. An audio recording of Chawla is going viral on the social media in which he can be heard saying that despite all the sacrifices made by him he was booted out of the panel.

Chawla had posted the audio clip on Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) WhatsApp group.

“Pakistan ne Kutta bhi nahi samja aur mujhe phaink diya. I am telling Indian media that this is a sacrifice for Pakistan. But look at what Pakistan did to me. Nobody in Pakistan will now say that Pakistan is zindabad,” said Chawla.

Chawla was removed from the post after India lodged a strong protest. However, he was removed only to be replaced by another pro-Khalistan leader Ameer Singh.

He is the brother of known Khalistani leader Bishen Singh and is said to be one of the top leaders of the Khalistan movement in Pakistan.

The PSGPC panel would coordinate the activities of the Kartarpur Corridor, including the movement of Sikh pilgrims from India to Narowal in Pakistan where the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Pakistan, is located, IANS reported.

However, the presence of pro-Khalistan leaders indicates that Islamabad is looking at this opportunity to fan the Khalistan movement again.

Though Chawla has been removed as the secretary of PSGPC, he continues to serve as the non-official member of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) which controls the PSGPC which means he still has authority to interfere in the working of the PSGPC.

He was also present as the ETPB member at Gujranwala on July 12 when Gurudwara Khara Sahib was opened for the first time after a period of 72 years.
