NSA Ajit Doval has been reaching out to people since August 8 to take stock of the situation in the Valley after the abrogation of Article 370 that gave special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar: National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval, who is currently on Kashmir visit, was on Saturday seen interacting with locals in Anantnag, a terror-hit district in south Kashmir.

Doval has been camping in Kashmir to review the security situation after Centre’s move to revoke Article 370 and bifurcate Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories- Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

In a video tweeted by news agency ANI, the security adviser was spotted interacting with traders who were selling sheep for sacrifice on Eid which will be celebrated across India on Monday.

Earlier today, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik said that the state administration was making all efforts to ensure that people celebrate the festival of Eid without fear.

“We are preparing for Eid. We are ensuring that maximum facilities are provided to the people. People should celebrate Eid without fear, and peacefully,” he said.

Earlier today, several people were seen standing in long queues outside ATMs. The markets were also crowded people Valley came out in large numbers for Eid shopping.

Doval, who has been in Kashmir since August 6, has been reaching out to people in several districts to assess the ground situation.

On Friday, the NSA visited the sensitive downtown area in Srinagar and interacted with locals and security personnel. He also visited the Eidgah locality and talked with locals about the arrangements of the festival. He asked the troops to ensure the safety of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier on Wednesday, he went to Shopian and interacted with the locals. He assured them that their security and well being was the prime concern of the government.

"Yes, everything will be fine. Everyone should live peacefully. Whatever the almighty does is good. Your security and well being is our only concern. We are thinking about the growth and welfare of your generations," Doval was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

He also discussed the security situation in the Valley with the police and paramilitary personnel and asked them to expedite normalcy.

The security adviser had also held a meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Governor discussed current internal and external security scenario following developments in the Parliament relating to Jammu and Kashmir. Both of them emphasised upon the need to maintain alertness and vigil by various departments to avoid any unforeseen situation besides stressing upon the need to ensure the safety of people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on Thursday assured that people would not face difficulties during Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.

"The government is providing every possible help to our friends who live outside Jammu and Kashmir and want to go back for Eid," he had said in his televised address to the nation.
