Islamabad: Even as Kulbhushan Jadhav continued to remain in Pakistan's custody on charges of espionage, Islamabad on Wednesday claimed to have arrested another Indian national for alleged spying.

Pakistani media reports claimed that the law enforcement authorities arrested an Indian national on charges of spying from Rakhi Gaj area of Dera Ghazi Khan district.

The Indian national has been identified in Pakistani media reports as Raju Lakshman. He has been taken to an undisclosed location by the authorities.

It was reported that Raju Lakshman was arrested as he entered Pakistan’s Punjab province from Baluchistan.

There has been no official word so far on this development from either the Pakistan government or the Indian government.

The development came just days after India secured a major victory when the International Court of Justice stayed the death sentence awarded by Pakistan’s military court to Kulbhushan Jadhav, a former Indian Navy officer.

Jadhav, 49, was sentenced to death by the Pakistani military court on charges of "espionage and terrorism" in April 2017. The verdict was denounced by India and it had moved the Hague-based ICJ in May 2017. The ICJ had that month temporarily stayed Jadhav’s execution.
