In a fresh plea, Pakistan has urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to urge India to allow UN observer group's patrolling along the Line of Control (LoC). Earlier, Pakistan had referred to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's remarks on Kashmir to substantiate its argument. Now Pakistan has written yet another letter to the UNSC urging the global body to intervene in Kashmir. It seeks the setting up of a United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan and patrol on the LOC on Indian side

Islamabad: Pakistan has written yet another letter to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) urging the global body to intervene in Kashmir. Pakistan's foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi also urged UNSC to double the number of observers under the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) and asked UNSC president to 'persuade' India to allow them to patrol on its side of the Line of Control (LoC).

"The Foreign Minister further suggested to the Security Council for doubling the number of United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) observers and persuading India to allow them to patrol on its side of the LoC as well," a press statement by Pakistan's Foreign Office said.

Earlier, Pakistan made reference to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's remarks on Kashmir to reportedly substantiate its claims on alleged human rights violation in Jammu and Kashmir. Congress was, however, quick to clarify that a 'misinformation' campaign was being run by Pakistan.

In a press communique, INC stressed that Kashmir is an integral part of India and an 'internal matter' of New Delhi. In a face-saving exercise, Gandhi too took to Twitter and said — "I disagree with this Govt. on many issues. But, let me make this absolutely clear: Kashmir is India’s internal issue & there is no room for Pakistan or any other foreign country to interfere in it."
