Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi reacted to Pakistan’s Senate Chairman cancelling UAE visit over PM Narendra Modi been conferred with UAE’s highest civilian award Order of Zayed

Islamabad: Reacting on Pakistan Senate chairman cancelling UAE visit over PM Narendra Modi being conferred with the Order of Zayed, UAE's highest civilian award, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that one must forget that the UAE bailed Pakistan out.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honoured with the 'Order of Zayed', the UAE's highest civilian award, in recognition of playing a pivotal role in reshaping the strategic relationship between the two countries.

Before Modi, other world leaders who have received the award are Russian President Vladimir Putin, Britain's Queen Elizabeth II and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The award was conferred on Modi by the Abu Dhabi crown prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi yesterday.

Pakistan politicians have gone all ballistic ever since India abrogated Article 370 ending Jammu & Kashmir’s special status.

Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after New Delhi abrogated provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution to withdraw Jammu and Kashmir's special status and carving the State into two Union Territories on August 5. While J&K will have a legislature, Ladakh will function without a legislature.

India has categorically told the international community that the scrapping of Article 370 to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was an internal matter and also advised Pakistan to accept the reality.

In April, the UAE announced to confer the country's highest award on PM Modi.

Taking to his Twitter handle, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said, "We have historical and comprehensive strategic ties with India, reinforced by the pivotal role of my dear friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who gave these relations a big boost."

Speaking on PM getting top honour, top government sources said that such widespread recognition from the Muslim world is a "tight slap" for Pakistan adding that their efforts to isolate India among Islamic nations have failed considerably.

Pakistan has been rattled after the abrogation of Article 370 and is doing everything to internationalise the issue.

The government source further said that Pakistan needs to realises that this is a New India that will engage with the world and also ensure that perpetrators of terror are isolated.

So far, PM Modi has received Bahrain's the King Hamad Order of the Renaissance, UAEs' Order of Zayed, Palestine's Grand Collar of the State of Palestine, Afghanistan's Amir Amanullah Khan Award, Saudi Arabia's King Abdulaziz Sash Award and Maldives' Rule of Nishan Izzuddeenon.
