There have been reports of social media activity in Kuwait against the alleged persecution of Muslims in India amid the coronavirus outbreak

New Delhi: A day after the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) iterated that Kuwait does not support interference in India's internal affairs, Delhi Minorities Commission chairman Zafarul Islam Khan on Tuesday shared a very contrary and provocative post on social media. He went on to assert that Indian Muslims enjoy huge goodwill among Arab nations and warned the 'Hindutva bigots' of an 'avalanche'.

Zafarul Islam Khan's comments have come on the heels of increasing reports of social media activity in Kuwait against the alleged persecution of Muslims in India amid the coronavirus outbreak. Several people, including human rights activists, in Kuwait have taken to social media to express their 'anger' after the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) urged the Indian government to curb "Islamophobia" in the country.

The Delhi Minorities Commission chief thanked Kuwait for "standing with the Indian Muslims" and said "Hindutva bigots" miscalculated the reaction of the Arab world about the "persecution of Muslims in India".

It should be noted that yesterday only, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) iterated that the government of Kuwait does not support interference in India's internal matters and deeply respects the friendly relations between the two countries.

In his post, Khan went on to assert that Indian Muslims enjoy huge goodwill in the Arab and Muslim world for their services over centuries to Islamic causes.
