New Delhi: Army General MM Naravane started his two-days visit of the Indian Army's Southern Command in Pune, Maharashtra 

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General MM Naravane began his two-day visit to the Indian Army's southern command on Friday.

The COAS (Chief of Army Staff) visited TATA Motors at Pimpri during his visit to Pune, where he observed the operations of the passenger and commercial vehicle assembly lines as well as the engineering research centre.

A range of TATA vehicles, including the Xenon, AWD (4x4) Troop Carrier, light bulletproof vehicle, and combat support vehicles, such as Mine Protected Vehicles and Wheeled Armoured Amphibious Platform AWD (8x8) configuration, were on display.

Naravane also paid a visit to L&T's Strategic Systems Complex (SSC) in Talegaon, near Pune, to see their manufacturing facilities and developmental efforts to modernise the Indian armed forces.

The COAS was briefed about various defence-related programmes and L&T's engagements with the Indian Army.

He also lauded the efforts of both indigenous manufacturers in promoting ‘Atmanirbharta’ in the defence manufacturing sector.
