The police have been asked to increase vigilance for the Israel embassies across the country

A nationwide terror alert has been issued by the intelligence agencies ahead of the Jewish holidays which start from September 6. According to intel inputs, terror groups can carry out attacks like the Israel embassy blast in Delhi earlier this year.

As per the intelligence inputs, Israeli citizens, embassies and sites which hold religious values for the Jewish community can be attacked during the holidays. All police forces across the country have been alerted to ensure their safety and security.

The police have been asked to increase vigilance for the Israel embassies across the country, consulate staff and residences, kosher restaurants, synagogues Chabad houses and Jewish community centres.

"We have shared the alert with various police forces across the country. And if required, the security of such establishments will be increased," news agency ANI quoted a government official as saying.

A minor IED blast of "very low intensity" took place near the Israel embassy in New Delhi on January 29. The blast had occurred at 5.05 pm at a spot about 150 metres away from the Israeli embassy.
