Punjab Police arrested two people on charges of spying and sharing sensitive army information with the ISI in Amritsar on Wednesday.

The arrested spies have been identified as Zafar Riaz of Kolkata and Mohammad Shamshad of Bihar.

Investigations have revealed that Zafar married a Pakistani national, Rabia, in 2005, who stayed with him in Kolkata, but the couple shifted to Lahore in 2012, where he was allegedly lured by ISI officials.

Zafar, according to the police officials, was a frequent visitor to India. He was found clicking photographs and allegedly shooting videos of sensitive Indian Army installations which he shared with his handlers using the encrypted apps.

Zafar's associate, Mohammed Shamshad, hailed from Bihar and has been running a lemonade stall near the Amritsar railway station for the last 20 years.

Shamshad was known to him and he had introduced him to the ISI officials as well.

Both the accused have been booked under sections 3, 4, 5 and 9 of the Official Secrets Act and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code wide an FIR registered at Amritsar police station.

Furthermore, both have admitted to having clicked the photographs and shot videos of Army buildings, vehicles and other structures.
