Two terrorists were gunned down during an encounter on Monday, July 11, in Jammu & Kashmir’s Awantipora. The encounter took place at the Wandakpora area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district.

One of the terrorists was identified as Kaiser Koka. Police said the identity of another terrorist involved in the shootout is being confirmed. Police said arms and ammunition, including 1 US-made rifle (M-4 Carbine), 1 pistol, and other material have been recovered from the slain terrorist.

An official told India Today that a joint team of police, the Army and the CRPF, after receiving information about the presence of militants, launched a search operation in the area.

He said that as the joint team intensified searches towards the suspected spot, the holed up militants fired upon the party, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter.
