The country with the fourth largest military in the world, a fastest growing global military power has always been developing and procuring best weapons for its armed forces for maintaining its sovereignty and to protect its citizens against any external threats. Indian military has always been unique because it has experiences in many fields including counter insurgency, jungle warfare and operating in high altitudes.

Indian Military already have some of the best weapons in the world like BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, Sukhoi Su30-MKI fighter aircraft, T-90 Battle tanks, INS Vikramaditya aircraft carrier etc. But for a country to remain powerful, it needs to invest a lot in research and develop more advanced weapons and technologies. India has constituted several futuristic projects.

These are the top 5 powerful weapons of India being developed in recent times:

The DRDO is developing an E-bomb which will emit electromagnetic shock waves that can destroy electronic circuits and communication networks of enemy forces. The electromagnetic shock wave generated from the E-Bomb can destroy electronic circuits and communication network, crippling the enemy forces and disabling enemy radars, communication networking, information gathering sensors, controls and other electronic equipment. It is being developed at the research Centre Imarat which is a DRDO research facility situated in Hyderabad.

2. The KALI

KALI is a Indian military weapon technology under development which can damage electric and electronic circuits present in enemy missiles, air crafts, enemy satellites and destroy them. KALI stands for Kilo Ampere Linear Injector. It is a linear electron accelerator being developed by DRDO and BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre). It emits powerful pulses of Relativistic Electrons Beams (REB).The KALI project was started in 1989 and the first KALI accelerators had a power of 0.4 GW, which increased as later versions were developed. The later versions were the KALI 80, KALI 200, KALI 1000, KALI 5000 and KALI 10000.

AURA is an autonomous stealth Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle (UCAV), being developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation for the Indian Air Force. The design work on the project is being carried out by India's Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA). AURA is a self-defending high-speed reconnaissance UCAV with weapon firing capability with on-board sensors and is capable of releasing missiles, bombs and precision-guided bombs. It is said to be powered by a modified dry thrust version of the Kaveri engine.

As we all know BrahMos is a medium-range ramjet supersonic cruise missile and is the fastest supersonic cruise missile in the world with Mach 2.8 speed. It is a joint venture between Russia and India and is carried out by BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited. BrahMos is being developed and advanced to Hypersonic level under the name BrahMos MARK-2. It is a hypersonic cruise missile currently under development and it is the second of the BrahMos series of cruise missiles. The BrahMos Mark-2 is expected to have a speed of Mach 7 and the missile will be propelled by a scram-jet air breathing jet engine in its initial phase. It is expected to have a range of 450 kilometres but can be restricted to 290 kilometres.

5. AGNI-6

Agni-6 is an intercontinental ballistic missile being developed by the DRDO for the Indian Armed Force. It is said to be a four stage ICBM having Multiple independently targetable reentry vehicle as well as Manoeuvrable Re-Entry Vehicle (MIRV) with a strike range of 8,000 km to 12,000 km. It is said that the new generation Agni-VI missile will be sleeker, easily transportable and would be readily deployed. It will have the capability to be launched from submarines and from land-based launchers. Although DRDO has completed all calculations and started the engineering work, it is said that Indian government is yet to approve the project.

Let us hope that India can develop more powerful weapons and prove the world that it will become a super power that others don't wish to mess with.
