Omar Abdullah demurred Northern Command chief Lt Gen Ranbir Singh's statement that claimed 2018 to be a 'great year', further founding his argument with a list of points.

The response from Jammu and Kashmir's former chief minister was stirred after chief Lt Gen Ranbir Singh addressing the media stated that '2018 has been a great year for the security forces'

Contradicting that statement, the Abdullah scion raised a few Utopian points that a great year would be when-
  • No young man joins militancy
  • No terrorist would be killed
  • No security personnel would lose their lives in encounters
  • He further added that compulsion of killing a terrorist must not be a 'Cause For Celebration'

Earlier on Thursday, chief Lt Gen Ranbir Singh listed out statistics that said over 250 terrorists have been eliminated, 54 caught alive and 4 surrendered to the forces.

He further elucidated that the Indian Army is able to give the Pakistanis a 'Befitting Reply' citing the killing of five Pakistani soldiers.

The Army gave a tough message to the neighbour country on Wednesday night where along with the Pakistani soldiers, a large number of infrastructure was damaged in retaliation by the Indian Army in Rajouri and Poonch sector. Chief Lt. Gen Ranbir Singh said that Pakistan suffered huge casualty and damage whenever India retaliates to the ceasefire violations.
