ISRO on Wednesday completed another lunar-bound manoeuvre and put Chandrayaan-2 in a new orbit around Moon. Chandrayaan-2 completes another operation around Moon; Now in 179 km X 1,412 km orbit. The manoeuvre for Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft was performed successfully beginning at 9.04 am as planned, said ISRO. "The duration of the manoeuvre was 1,190 seconds. The orbit achieved is 179 km x 1412 km," it added. The next lunar-bound orbit manoeuvre is scheduled on August 30 between 6 pm and 7 pm

BANGALORE: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Wednesday completed another lunar-bound manoeuvre and put Chandrayaan-2 in a new orbit around Moon.

"The manoeuvre for Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft was performed successfully beginning at 9.04 am as planned, using the on board propulsion system. The duration of the manoeuvre was 1,190 seconds. The orbit achieved is 179 km x 1412 km," ISRO said after the successful manoeuvre, adding that all spacecraft parameters are normal.

The next lunar-bound orbit manoeuvre is scheduled on August 30 between 6 pm and 7 pm.

On August 21, ISRO had completed another manoeuvre after burning the on board propulsion systems for 1,228 seconds. The orbit achieved then was 118 km X 4,412 km.

TOI had earlier reported that the next lunar-bound orbit manoeuvre was scheduled on August 28 between 5.30 am and 6.30 am. Two more manoeuvres will be performed on August 30 and September 1.

On August 20, ISRO, in a 29-minute operation guided Chandrayaan-2 into a 114 km X 18,072 km elliptical orbit around Moon. Now, after the next two manoeuvres, Vikram, the lander, will separate from the composite body-orbiter, lander and rover integrated together-on September 2, and is expected to touch down on the lunar surface at 1.55 am on September 7.
