Indian Air Force (IAF) chief Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria and his team of air force officials were present at the historic Pearl Harbormaster military base in the US on Thursday when a gunman opened fire at the establishment in Hawaii.

At least three people have been injured in the firing while two of them are critical. The team of Indian Air Force officials is unharmed and safe.

Air chief RKS Bhadauria was visiting Hawaii for the Pacific Air Force Chiefs Conference (PACS-2019) at the American military base in Pearl Harbour, Hawaii in the United States. The team of air force officials was visiting the US military base to discuss regional security issues.

A US Navy sailor shot and wounded three people at the historic military base at Pearl Harbour, Hawaii on Wednesday, military officials said, before fatally shooting himself.

Joint Base Pearl Harbour-Hickam said on Twitter that the three injured victims were all civilians working for the U.S. Department of Defence, but gave no information on their condition

A spokeswoman for the Joint Base Pearl Harbour-Hickam confirmed that a shooting had taken place but declined to give any further details.

"The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. Due to the ongoing security incident, access/gates to #JBPHH are closed," the base said on Twitter, adding that officials would provide further information when it became available.

NBC affiliate Hawaii News Now, citing a base spokesman, said at least three people had been wounded in the attack, which took place at Drydock 2 of the Pearl Harbour Naval Shipyard.

An unnamed witness told Hawaii News Now in an on-air interview that he had seen the gunman put a gun to his head and shoot himself.
