Ludhiana: Army chief General Bipin Rawat during his visit to Ludhiana on Saturday called upon the youth to come forward, become an integral part of the Indian Army and serve the nation.

Addressing a gathering at a function held at Sat Paul Mittal School, he said collective efforts are required to make India number one country in the world.

Gen Rawat said, “India is progressing in every field at a fast pace but western culture is being adopted in the country at a rapid pace too. At this juncture, we should not forget that we have our own strong culture which talks of unity, brotherhood, religious tolerance, sympathy, care, compassion for elders and a very strong bonding between children and their parents and students and their teachers."

“Indian culture, heritage and values are priceless and we should take them forward. And youth should not fall prey to the western culture,” he added.

Encouraging the youth to learn from their mistakes and urging them to never give up in case of failures, Gen Rawat said, “Some of you will have to face failures even after working hard, but instead of taking it as a setback, you should take it as means to attain success. You can always contribute in nation building by becoming doctors, engineers at the same time several of you can join Indian Army to serve our nation.”

“The doors of Indian Army are always open for you, but at the same time I would also like to say that identify your strength, appreciate what you are good at and taking in consideration your strength you should move forward in life,” he added.
