Director General of J&K Police SP Vaid

Srinagar: Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. SP Vaid said that the three terrorists who tortured and killed our colleague have been killed. For the Forces the revenge was sweet. Barely hours after three Lashkar-e-Taeba terrorists abducted and killed Constable Saleem Shah, the Army launched a successful encounter to gun down all three.

The encounter took place at the Wani Mohalla locality of Khodweni, around a kilometre away from where Saleem's body had been found. It may be recalled that these terrorists had managed to escape from the same area back in April, when they were almost cornered by the security forces.

Hours after the killing of Saleem, the Forces got information about the presence of these three terrorists. It was learnt that they were hiding in a house, following which the area was cordoned off.

The encounter took place at around 5.30 am on Sunday. The terrorists returned fire and even made a bid to escape from the house. The forces who had cordoned off the entire area, burnt down the house, following which the game was up. In the encounter two locals and one Pakistani terrorist was killed.

Earlier, the DGP said the group behind the abduction and killing of the constable were trapped in the encounter at Khudwani in Kulgam district of south Kashmir.

Terrorists group that tortured our colleague CT Mohd Saleem of Kulgam & killed him brutally are all trapped in an encounter with J&K Police/Army/CRPF in Khudwani Kulgam, he said.

The encounter began on Sunday as security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Khodweni after receiving specific intelligence input about the presence of militants in the area.

The search operation turned into a gun battle as the militants fired upon the search party of the forces who retaliated and in the ensuing gun fight, three militants were killed.
