Badminton sensation P V Sindhu is likely to fly the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), Tejas at the ongoing Aero India 2019, as the biennial airshow celebrates Women's Day on Saturday. Sindhu tweeted a report on her participation, in an apparent endorsement of the news.

If Sindhu turns up at the carnival of aeroplanes, she will create aviation history. The shuttler would become the first ever woman to take a sortie as a co-pilot on the Tejas.

On Wednesday, the weaponised version of the aircraft had got the Final Operational Clearance (FOC) for induction into the Indian Air Force (IAF). A day later, the Army Chief Bipin Rawat had gone on a sortie and on arrival, branded it a 'wonderful aircraft.'

Sindhu's participation could be a huge boost to the airshow, the last two of which have been declared public days. Lakhs of people are expected to converge at the Yelahanka Air Station on Saturday and Sunday, and the Badminton star's feat could be a big draw.

Several celebrities from Bollywood and the corporate sector had flown different fighter jet over the last several airshows, generating huge interest among the visiting public.

Global biggies battling for the Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) had beckoned big crowds through such celebrity endorsements in the past.
