GUWAHATI: Chief of Indian naval staff admiral Sunil Lanba, who is also the chairman of chief of staff committee, urged the Army’s formation at India’s northern border with China in Tawang sector to be operation ready to take on any surprise along the Line of Actual Control.

Defence PRO Lt Col P Khongsai said that the admiral reviewed the "operational readiness" of the Army and exhorted the formation to maintain required operational readiness for any unforeseen contingencies along northern borders. 

"He visited the forward areas of Tawang Sector on Line of Actual Control in Arunachal Pradesh. The Admiral, while on a short tour was updated on the security situation along northern borders in the areas of Tawang garrison," the PRO said.

"During his interaction with troops, he lauded their efforts towards ensuring peace and tranquillity along Line of Actual Control, besides enhancing image of the armed forces amongst local populace by means of required Samaritan activities. He also paid homage to the martyrs of 1962 operation at Tawang war memorial, in remembering the supreme sacrifice of 2,420 martyrs of the war in the sector,” the PRO added.
