While speaking exclusively to ANI regarding Indian Coast Guard, Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat said, "You are aware that the Indian coast guards along with the Indian Navy is responsible for ensuring maritime surveillance and to ensure that our exclusive economic zone is monitored effectively, Coast Guard have been carrying out the task in a very professional manner and are continuously upgrading their effort. And, this can only happen if they are provided with additional resources.

I'm very happy that today the Indian coast guard ship 'Veera' has been commissioned, which will add to the strength and will enable them to better and more effectively monitor the coastline and the surveillance along the seaboard." He further added that more 'Army-Coast Guard' exercises will be provided on how to operate Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACV).
