An Army Jawan died in Rajasthan's Kota district after being attacked by a bear. The Jawan hailed from Garhwal area in Uttarakhand.

His body was found by Kota Police after an extensive search operation that was conducted in the valley near the Chambal river.

The Jawan, Surendra Singh (19), had been undergoing training at the Shambupura Army Camp in Kota.

The Jawan's body was found in the Chambal valley. Singh had fallen down 150 feet and got stuck there in a tree after his fight with the bear. He died due to the injuries he suffered after falling on trees.

Army officials have been tight lipped on how the Jawan reached the area from the training camp.

The Army had informed the police that Singh had been missing from the Army camp without informing anyone after which the police had begun its search operation.

Initially, the Jawan's mobile was found lying near the cliff 500 metres away from the training camp. After that, the police's rescue team was able to locate his body feet stuck in a tree.

The body was retrieved from there by the Army and police's rescue team. Singh's body had telltale injury marks of his fight with the bear.

Singh had struggled against the bear for sometime after which he fell from the cliff towards the Chambal river and hit the trees due to which he died.

His body has been kept at the mortuary in the MBS hospital. Postmortem will be performed after his relatives arrive.
