This comes after the army foiled an attack by BAT on a forward post along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir

New Delhi: The Indian army on Sunday said that it has offered Pakistan to take over the dead bodies of its Border Action Team (BAT) regulars. This comes after the army foiled an attack by BAT on a forward post along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Have offered Pakistan Army to take over the dead bodies (of 5-7 Pak BAT army regulars/terrorists). Pakistan Army has been offered to approach with a white flag and take over the dead bodies for last rites, they are yet to respond,” the Army said.

However, the Pakistan Army said that it is "mere propaganda" and India is "trying to divert the attention of the world from the situation of Kashmir".

"We reject Indian allegations of cross-LOC action by Pakistan and possession of bodies," said Pakistan's Foreign Office in a statement.

The BAT is the special forces unit of the Pakistani Army.

The Army had foiled a BAT attack on its forward post along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir, killing at least five to seven intruders on Saturday.

"A BAT attempt was made on one of the forward posts in Keran sector (in Kupwara district) and foiled by alert troops resulting in neutralising of five to seven Pak regulars/terrorists," defence spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said.

Col Kalia also said that four hardcore Jaish-e-Mohammad militants were neutralised in two operations in which a cache of sniper rifle, IED and mine with Pakistan markings were recovered.

"This clearly indicates the complicity of Pakistan in terror activities. Security forces will continue to respond to all nefarious activities along the LoC and hinterland," he said.

According to sources, the BAT attempt made an attempt to enter on the night of July 31 and August 1.

A senior Army official said that Pakistan has desperately attempted to push terrorists belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammad and other outfits into Jammu and Kashmir over the last few days.

"The response by security forces vindicates the build-up in the hinterland," he said.
