In the wake of drone threat, security agencies in Jammu have installed an anti-drone system at the Air Force station. In the past four days, at least seven drones have been spotted hovering over military stations in Jammu

An anti-drone system has been installed at the Indian Air Force (IAF) station in Jammu amid multiple sightings of quadcopters in the city, days after explosives-laden drones dropped bombs in the technical area of the airport.

Sources told India Today on Wednesday that an anti-drone system has been put in place at the Jammu Air Force station by the National Security Guard (NSG).

“Systems have been scaled up for the new drone threat. A radio frequency detector and soft jammers have been installed at the station in Jammu,” sources added. Anti-drone guns have also been deployed.

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have been on alert after a drone attack on the Jammu base on June 27.

The attack on Jammu air base was the first such instance of suspected Pakistan-based terrorists deploying unmanned aerial vehicles to strike at vital installations.

A day later, fresh attempts to target the Ratnuchak-Kaluchak military station in Jammu with drones were thwarted by Army soldiers.

For the fourth day in a row, drones were reportedly spotted at three different places in Jammu on Wednesday. Sources told India Today that drones were seen hovering over Miran Sahib, Kaluchak and Kunjwani areas of Jammu in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday took over the charge of the investigation into the drone attack on the Indian Air Force station in Jammu.

Giving an update on the investigation into the attack, sources told India Today on Wednesday that military-grade drones were likely used by Pakistani-based perpetrators to target the Jammu Air Force station.

Chinese drones could have been used to drop IEDs, the sources added.

Sources said they suspect that drones were fitted with night vision and navigation was used.

Meanwhile, the Rajouri district administration on Wednesday banned the use and storage of drones or other flying objects in the district.
