India's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Vipul, joined family members and mourners at the funeral of Indian national Mohammed Yousef Ali, who was killed following the recent Houthi attack on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport.

The Indian Embassy in Riyadh stated that Ambassador Vipul and embassy officials attended the funeral service, conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, and prayed for the eternal peace of the deceased. The ambassador also assured the family of the embassy's continued support and assistance during this difficult period.

The funeral attendance came as the death toll from the 10 October attack on Riyadh airport rose to 13 after the injured Indian national succumbed to his injuries.

According to the Indian Embassy, three Indian nationals injured in the attack remain in intensive care but are in a stable condition. Two others continue to receive treatment in regular hospital wards, while the remaining injured individuals have been discharged.

Embassy officials visited all hospitals where the injured Indian nationals were admitted and said they were closely monitoring the situation. The mission also thanked Saudi authorities for the medical care provided to the affected Indian citizens and reiterated its commitment to assisting their families.

The embassy additionally urged members of the Indian community in Saudi Arabia to strictly follow local laws and regulations. The advisory highlighted a warning issued by the General Directorate of Saudi Civil Defence that filming, publishing or sharing information related to missile and drone interception operations or impact locations could result in legal liability.

Separately, Ambassador Vipul met Abdulrahman Al-Rassi, Saudi Arabia's Deputy Minister for International Multilateral Affairs and General Supervisor of the Economic and Development Affairs Deputyship at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The discussions focused on issues of mutual interest, particularly strengthening multilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry also confirmed the meeting, noting that both sides reviewed matters of common interest and broader international cooperation.

In another diplomatic engagement, Ambassador Vipul led the Indian delegation at the 17th International Energy Forum Ministerial Meeting and the 25th WPC Energy Congress in Riyadh.

India's participation at the energy gathering was further marked by the presence of major Indian firms, including Engineers India Limited (EIL) and Larsen & Toubro (L&T), highlighting ongoing economic and energy-sector engagement between India and Saudi Arabia.

The developments underscore the Indian mission's dual focus on supporting affected nationals following the airport attack while continuing to advance diplomatic, multilateral and economic cooperation with Saudi Arabia.
