VyomIC Secures IN-SPACe Technology Adoption Fund 2026 To Advance Indigenous Atomic Clock Technology

VyomIC has secured support under IN-SPACe’s Technology Adoption Fund (TAF) 2026 to accelerate the development of an indigenous atomic clock ensemble architecture designed to deliver high-precision and secure timing capabilities for future space applications.
The project carries a total value of ₹20.12 crore, with IN-SPACe providing funding support of ₹12.55 crore. The initiative represents a significant step in the company's efforts to strengthen India's domestic capabilities in advanced positioning, navigation and timing technologies.
At the core of the project is a novel atomic clock ensemble architecture that combines multiple clock technologies to deliver highly stable, resilient and precise timing performance. Such systems are critical for modern navigation networks, satellite operations and secure communications, where timing accuracy directly influences system reliability.
The technology is expected to become a key building block for VyomIC’s next-generation Low Earth Orbit Positioning, Navigation and Timing (LEO-PNT) architecture. By enhancing the accuracy and resilience of timing services, the system aims to support the development of sovereign space-based positioning, navigation and timing capabilities for India.
According to details released by the company, the architecture is intended to combine miniature atomic clocks with high-performance oven-controlled crystal oscillators, supported by adaptive filtering and advanced steering algorithms. This approach is designed to maintain highly stable and secure timing across demanding operational environments.
Beyond its role in LEO-PNT services, the technology could also support wider applications, including satellite constellations, compact space platforms and future deep-space missions where reliable timing remains a critical operational requirement.
The funding award also reflects confidence in the maturity of VyomIC’s technology development efforts. The company has previously indicated that its atomic clock technology has already been demonstrated at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3/4 and is now progressing towards full operational readiness.
The award comes as India continues to expand private-sector participation in the space domain through the ₹500 crore Technology Adoption Fund, which was created to help Indian space companies transform promising early-stage technologies into commercially deployable systems. The programme is aimed at reducing dependence on imported technologies while strengthening indigenous innovation across the space ecosystem.
For VyomIC, the latest support marks an important milestone in its ambition to develop a domestic LEO-based navigation architecture, enhancing India's long-term strategic autonomy in space-based positioning, navigation and timing services while contributing to the broader growth of the country's emerging space industry.
