Hizbul Mujahideen Terrorist Killed In Encounter In J&K’s Shopian
A Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist was killed in an encounter with the security forces in the Nadigam area of Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
A terrorist killed in an encounter in the Nadigam area of Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen.
The terrorist has been identified as Umar Ishfaq Malik, a resident of Bongam in Shopian. He had joined the militant outfit in November last year.
Earlier in the day, joint forces including the soldiers from 34 and 44 Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army, 14 Battalion CRPF and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the Nowpora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district after receiving inputs about the presence of militants.
The cordon and search operation turned into an encounter when militants fired upon the search party. During the exchange of fire, the terrorist was killed.
One AK-47 assault rifle, 4 magazines and a hand grenade have been recovered from the spot of encounter.
