The Ministry of Defence (MoD) of India has awarded a contract worth approximately ₹7.83 crore (about 8 crore rupees) to Premier Explosives Limited for the supply of Counter Measures. This contract is a domestic order to be executed within 12 months, underscoring the company’s growing role as a key indigenous supplier to the Indian defence sector.

Premier Explosives Limited, established in 1980 and headquartered in Secunderabad, Telangana, specialises in manufacturing explosives for commercial and defence applications. Its defence portfolio includes solid propellants, explosive bolts, smoke markers, cable cutters, and pyro actuators.

The company operates a dedicated solid propellants manufacturing facility at Peddakandukuru in the Nalgonda district, catering to tactical missile programs like Astra, Akash, LRSAM, and rocket systems such as Pinaka.

The awarded order specifically pertains to Counter Measures, which are critical defence-grade products that protect military assets from guided missiles and electronic threats.

This order strengthens Premier Explosives’ position as a trusted and strategic defence supplier, supporting India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative aimed at self-reliance in defence production. The delivery timeline of 12 months highlights the company’s commitment to timely execution and fulfilling defence procurement needs.

Financially, Premier Explosives reported significant growth with a revenue of ₹417 crore in FY25, up from ₹271 crore the previous year. The company’s net profit remained steady with ₹285 crore in FY25. The defence order contributes positively to its order book and future revenue prospects, reflecting strong government confidence in its capabilities.

The company disclosed the order as per SEBI regulations, confirming it is not a related party transaction and no promoter group has interests in the awarding entity. This transparency reinforces the credibility and fairness of the contract award process.

Following the announcement, Premier Explosives' stock price saw a positive reaction, rising over 3%, reflecting investor confidence in the company’s expanding defence portfolio and revenue visibility from the new contract.

This ₹7.83 crore contract for Counter Measures supply awarded by the Ministry of Defence marks a significant milestone for Premier Explosives Limited. It reinforces the company's strategic importance in indigenous defence manufacturing, contributes to its financial health, and supports India’s broader defence self-sufficiency goals.
