France, Albania In Frame: RSS Chief Bhagwat Warns of ‘Regime Change’ Bid In India

Amid the controversy surrounding calls for "regime change" during recent protests against the Election Commission, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat used his annual Dussehra address to caution against efforts that seek to create political instability in India, NDTV reported.
Drawing parallels with recent developments and unrest witnessed in countries such as France and Albania, as well as earlier events in Bangladesh and Nepal, Bhagwat said attempts to engineer regime change have become a recurring phenomenon in different parts of the world. He asserted that similar efforts are continuing in India but maintained that such attempts would not succeed.
According to Bhagwat, India has continued to progress with determination and resilience, while the collective strength and vitality of society have steadily increased. He argued that this social strength remains a key factor in ensuring the nation's stability despite various challenges.
The RSS chief acknowledged that public grievances and protests are a natural part of any democracy. However, he stressed that movements should be aimed at finding solutions rather than deepening divisions or creating hostility among different sections of society.
He emphasised that the ultimate objective of any public agitation should be the resolution of problems. In his view, social and political actions must remain within accepted norms of propriety and should not generate bitterness or animosity.
Bhagwat also cautioned against movements being driven primarily by electoral considerations or the pursuit of short-term popularity. He argued that lasting solutions do not emerge merely through demonstrations and protests, but through dialogue, consultation and constructive engagement within society.
Highlighting what he described as growing attempts to influence public opinion through narratives of victimhood and grievance, Bhagwat warned that various forces seek to foster discontent, confusion and chaos. He called on citizens to remain vigilant and avoid becoming victims of efforts aimed at creating discord within society.
The RSS chief further underlined the importance of preserving social harmony and strengthening national unity. He said Indians must remain alert to divisive tendencies and resist intellectual confusion that weakens social cohesion.
Bhagwat urged citizens not to be provoked by attempts to generate conflict and instead remain focused on national development and the broader aspiration of seeing Bharat emerge as a Vishwaguru. He said society should continue working steadily towards this goal without being distracted by divisive influences.
Making a broader appeal for cultural and social unity, Bhagwat called upon people to overcome personal ego, discard misconceptions about their own and others' modes of worship, and stop viewing diversity as a source of separation.
He concluded by advocating what he described as three unifying bonds: devotion to Bharat, pride in shared ancestors and commitment to Bharatiya culture. Embracing these values, he said, would help strengthen national unity and advance the country's progress.
