The Indian Army’s Fire and Fury Corps has inaugurated a state-of-the-art Drone Maintenance-cum-Repair Hub near Nimu in Ladakh, marking a significant advancement in the Army’s capability to conduct and sustain high-altitude drone operations.

This facility is strategically located in a region of high strategic value along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), where the challenging and rugged terrain, combined with extreme weather and altitude, poses unique technical and operational difficulties for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The new hub is specifically designed to provide critical engineering support for drone missions, ensuring the repair, diagnostics, and maintenance of advanced drone systems that are deployed for surveillance, reconnaissance, and tactical support.

By enabling rapid turnaround of assets, the hub plays a pivotal role in maintaining operational readiness and sustaining mission continuity, especially in critical situations where downtime can compromise security or intelligence gathering.

Equipped with advanced technology and infrastructure, the facility is expected to significantly enhance the Army’s operational capability in the high-altitude environment of Ladakh. It addresses the technical challenges imposed by the region’s harsh conditions, ensuring that UAVs remain functional and effective for extended periods.

This development is seen as a major step forward in modernising military logistics and supporting the Army’s broader vision of technological absorption and self-reliance in defence capabilities.

The establishment of this hub also aligns with ongoing efforts to integrate indigenous drone technologies and support the Army’s evolving operational requirements in remote and sensitive border areas. By fostering rapid maintenance and mission continuity, the hub strengthens India’s defence posture in one of its most strategically important and demanding theatres.
