Kashmir Counter-Intelligence Detains Five For Smuggling SIM Cards To Terrorists In Jails

Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) has detained five individuals for their alleged involvement in smuggling SIM cards into the Central Jail, primarily intended for use by inmates connected to terrorism and narco-terrorism.
This operation was carried out on February 4, 2025, following investigations that revealed a conspiracy involving anti-national elements who facilitated the procurement and transportation of these SIM cards inside the jail premises.
The detained suspects are from various regions, including Dawoodpora Anantnag, Qamarwari Srinagar, Nathpora, Kaloosa in Bandipora, and Kursu Padshahibagh in Srinagar.
The CIK's actions are part of a broader investigation registered under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Authorities are also looking into the roles of different telecom service providers who issued these SIM cards, suggesting that further arrests may be forthcoming as the investigation progresses.
