The Indian Coast Guard marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its new jetty at Vizhinjam on June 7, 2025. The ceremony was led by Director General S Paramesh, AVSM, PTM, TM of the Indian Coast Guard, accompanied by Inspector General Bhisham Sharma, PTM, TM, Commander of Coast Guard Region (West). The newly commissioned jetty is designed to serve as a state-of-the-art facility, enabling safe berthing and rapid deployment of surface assets for the Coast Guard.

With a berth length of 76.70 meters, a breadth of 8 meters, and a depth ranging from 4 to 6 meters, the jetty is capable of accommodating all current Coast Guard vessels stationed at Vizhinjam.

The construction of this advanced maritime infrastructure was executed by the Harbour Engineering Department (HED) of the Kerala State Government, with RTF Infra Pvt Ltd, Thiruvananthapuram, serving as the main contractor.

The inauguration event drew the participation of senior officials from several key organizations, including the Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited (VISL), the Government of Kerala, the Kerala Maritime Board, port authorities, as well as officers from the Army, Air Force, State Police, Adani Port Pvt Ltd, the Fisheries Department, and representatives from both private and public sectors.

The commissioning of this jetty is expected to significantly enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Coast Guard in the region, supporting both maritime security and infrastructure development initiatives.
