Punjab Police have announced the successful busting of an ISI-sponsored Babbar Khalsa International terror module. A planned attack was foiled with the arrest of a key operative and the recovery of a hand grenade.

The operation was carried out by Counter Intelligence Jalandhar in coordination with SBS Nagar Police.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav confirmed that the accused had procured the grenade from Jalandhar on the instructions of foreign-based handlers.

The recovery of the grenade prevented what could have been a major terror incident in Punjab. The police emphasised that this was a significant breakthrough against cross-border terror networks.

The DGP stated that the grenade recovered was an 86-P hand grenade. He explained that the accused had obtained it through a DLB, or Dead Letter Box, near Adampur in Jalandhar. This covert technique is often used by terrorists, handlers, and organised crime syndicates to pass instructions, money, or weapons without direct contact. The use of such methods highlights the sophistication of the logistics employed by foreign handlers.

The police revealed that preliminary investigation has established clear links between the arrested operative and handlers based abroad.

These handlers were directing the operative to carry out attacks in Punjab, with the grenade being a critical part of the planned operation. The foiling of this attack underscores the importance of intelligence-led policing in countering terror threats.

The operation was described as a joint effort, combining the resources and expertise of Counter Intelligence Jalandhar and SBS Nagar Police. Such coordinated actions are increasingly necessary given the transnational nature of terror networks.

The police reiterated their commitment to dismantling modules backed by Pakistan’s ISI, which continues to sponsor groups like Babbar Khalsa International to destabilise India.

The arrest and recovery mark another step in Punjab Police’s ongoing campaign against terror modules. The authorities are continuing their investigation to trace funding routes, communication channels, and other operatives linked to this module.

The use of covert logistics like DLBs is being closely examined to prevent future attempts at smuggling arms and explosives into the state.

The foiling of this planned attack has been widely acknowledged as a major success in safeguarding Punjab from cross-border terror threats.

The police have assured that they will maintain heightened vigilance and continue to act against such modules with speed and precision.
