Policemen and locals gather near a destroyed police truck, after three suicide bomb attacks in southwestern city of Quetta, Pakistan April 24

Nobody has taken responsibility of the attacks but Taliban militants and Baloch nationalists often target security forces in the area.

Five policemen were killed and seven others were injured when a suicide bomber targeted a police van at Quetta’s Airport Road on Tuesday evening, local media reported.

Two other suicide bombers also tried to attack a Frontier Corps checkpost at Quetta’s Mian Ghundi area. However, following an exchange of fire, security personnel killed managed to kill the attackers before they could explode their suicide vests, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

“It was a targeted attack on the security forces carried out by militants but due to the swift reaction of the FC soldiers there were no casualties,” Aslam Tareen, the Director-General of Civil Defence, told the media.
